Excellent article! Perhaps the most important takeaway is not the potential of grit to impact success, but rather the radical mindset shift that could be adopted from this theory. What I mean is that our attitude towards success and our potential for it makes a world of difference. Individuals with a mediocre IQ typically may “count themselves out” in certain categories. For instance, one may dismiss his dream of being a neurosurgeon because he believes he simply isn’t smart enough. Well, as with the theory of grit, I believe that IQ is not the obstacle it was once thought to be. Critical thinking, reasoning, mathematical skills, and language proficiency can be learned. It’s an important mindset shift from I could never do that to I could learn that! Well done!
