Many people become so obsessed with their goals that the entire journey becomes a dreary, miserable plight. Much like a horse with blinders on, these people lose their peripheral vision and plow forward in a frenzy to reach their goals — never stopping to smell the roses along the way.

It’s the journey, not the destination,” is an important adage for these people to remember.

It limits them by giving them a narrow-minded perspective to work with, blocking out peripheral opportunities along the way.

However, the strategy you suggest avoids this dilemma by providing the individual with two different lenses — long-term and short-term. It broadens your perspective and makes for a vastly more effective mindset. I like your technique. Nicely done!
